Graticule

Meridians: Complex curves. The axial meridians are straight.
Parallels: Complex curves.
Symmetry: Triaxially about the centroid.

Distortion

Nowhere undistorted. Spiderweb pattern around centroids.

Similar projections

Snyder tetrahedron is similar but more distorted, especially along the lines of symmetry. Small circle equal-area tetrahedron is very similar.

Origin

The methodology was presented by Dietrich van Leeuwen in 2006, generalizing John P. Synder’s 1992 work. The methodology applies to any Platonic solid.
