Sorry to be a bit off-topic here…
But boy, what happens to valuable map projection resources these days?
Last week I noticed that Paul B. Anderson’s map projection gallery was gone from csiss.org/map-projections/ … fortunately, I found out that, at least for the moment, it’s still available at http://www.spatial.ucsb.edu/map-projections/
And now, Carlos A. Furuti’s map projection pages (formerly at progonos.com/furuti/MapProj/CartIndex/cartIndex.html) have gone, too… in fact, the domain progonos.com is for sale.
Does anybody know if Mr. Furuti moved the pages to a different location?
I can’t ask him because the only email address that I’ve got is located at progonos.com, too, so it’s useless to send a message using that address. Google lists (presumably) him at two social networks but I don’t have an account there. It’d be a shame if such an comprehensive introduction to map projections would be lost!
Kind regards,
Tobias
Bad days for map projection sites?
Re: Bad days for map projection sites?
I don’t know what to think about that. I’m not in communication with Mr. Furuti, so I can’t speculate on what happened. While not ideal, at least the site can still be viewed on the Way Back Machine.
Most unfortunate.

Good news:
progonos.com is back online, incl. the map projection pages. Phew!

And now, Anderson’s list, too, is back again on http://csiss.org/map-projections/
So, as far as I’m concerned, this thread can be deleted, seems kind of obsolete now…

Tobias
