Geocart 3.3.10 Release: Mac only

Post by daan »

This release fixes many bugs:
  • JPEG export crash
  • PDF export error
  • Missing crosshairs/origin move
  • Missing ruler tick marks
  • Page boundary shows paper edge separately from imageable area
  • Tool cursor problems
The size has increased considerably: Rather than separate installers for sample documents and the manual, it has all been placed into one.

I’ve been erasing fifteen years of tech debt that has accumulated in the infrastructure and Apple API usage. It’s a relief to get this off my mind. I’m still finding bugs, so there will be another release shortly. So that we wrap as much as feasible into it, please report anything you find. For now:
• Display anomaly in Change Projections where icons are shifted downward
• Export Animation Frames where the source and target projections are not shown

If “smart quotes and dashes” are enabled, it will screw up the XML code in Map → Boundaries → Custom, at least on my system running macOS Sequoia.

Kind regards

I will fix this in Geocart, but grudgingly: It’s OS behavior.

"Smart" quotes go both ways. I've found it's sometimes useful to write code that automatically converts curly quotes back into straight ones. Now that's smart!

I agree, it’s not very smart what macOS is doing here.
In the German localisation that option is called Typografische Interpunktion (typographic punctation) which is a more precise term.
