Anchor for map growth

Request preference for what location the map grows from when changing the nominal scale, other projection stuff. 9-point proxy would do (upper left, upper middle, upper
right, middle left etc). Right now it seems the map always grows from the upper left. But I wish it grew from the center.

To confirm I understand correctly, you want to anchor some point of the map to some point in the document?

Yes. If the map fills the document, and the center of the map is in the center of the document, if I have center transform registration point selected, the newly sized map would still be centered on that document xy location. So if the nominal scale changed and it gets smaller, then it would get smaller from the center of the document, since that was the center of the previous map. But if I changed the size UP and i had the registration point in the upper-left corner of the map (which in this case is 1/2 inch in from the upper left of the document, too) then the map would stay registered in the upper left but grow over and down. Same for changing the projection, sometimes the map will go off screen, this would hopefully prevent that as well, but prob. need some tie in to real lat/lng space to pixel, not just map pixel to document pixel.
