Natural Earth vector problems

I have downloaded Natural Earth’s 10m-roads and 10m-railroads files and placed them in the Cultural folder (.dbf .prj .shp .shx) but when the Shape file is opened in the databases there are no vectors in the map. Help please.

Hello Martin.

First question: Does your map portray North America? Those coverages from Natural Earth are only for North America, so if your map is somewhere else, you will not see anything draw.
