missing database

Post by howiet »

I have just started using the new geocart 3.1 after using the very old geo2 on the mac so thought I would acclimatise myself with Example 14, a base map for a cultural map of France but when
starting process 9, add database from the Natural Earth folder and the 10 million folder within there is only the 50 million folder with none of the relevent files i.e. HYP_HR_SR_W_DR subfolder and
HYP_HR_SR_W_DR.tif.

Have I not extracted the right foled or will I get the other database information when my full set of software arrives. Apolgies if this is the incoirrect forum method of asking my question.

Hi, howiet. Yes, you’ll get far more data with the DVD-ROM, and then you should be able to complete the examples. However, if you want to jump the gun, you could download the Natural Earth series immediately:

Happy mapping!

Hi daan
Received the disc with the databases on and extracted the files and the 10 million database loads in the Natural Earth folder, but when opening that all I have is the following NE_HR_LC folders. Also there is no physical sub folder in the 10 million database folder. Have I missed extracting these folders/files. I am at a loss. Helllppp

Sorry for my amateurish start to the mapping world, I blame it on the English weather. I have found what I need at the Natural Site. Apologies Daan

Howiet,

That may be more our oversight than yours. The Personal License edition does not ship with the full Natural Earth suite because they will not fit on the single DVD-ROM. The Profession License edition ships with the remainder of the Natural Earth suite on the second DVD-ROM. We ought to have constructed all the examples in the manual so that they only require the Personal License. Apologies for the confusion.
