Found a glitch called Rosette Glitch

Post by Piotr »

I found a glitch. I called it Rosette Glitch. It involves wanting south hemisphere to look like north hemisphere, setting interruptions to Rosette, 1 for gore count and Use northern's for symmetry. Then it asks you to type in 2 for gore count which you don't want to do.

I think what you are trying to do is configure a full-world projection as two hemispheres, north and south?

The rosette “glitch” is how I intended the feature to work. You need at least two “petals” for a rosette.

You can get what you want by choosing "Hemispheric” interruption and setting the projection center to the north pole. Perhaps it would be more convenient for me to add into the hemispheric interruption scheme the ability to choose north/south. On the other hand, there are any number of hemispheric combinations someone might be interested in. If you use projection center instead, you can choose exactly what you want. In the case of rosette, you have the same unlimited choices; the north/south divide is not literal, but rather topological.

What I want to do is to make projections that are not, like Werner and Collignon, symmetrical around equator by using North hemisphere formulas for South hemisphere.

Got it. Thanks. I’ll consider how this should be implemented. I’m moving this thread to Wish List.
