Hammer interrupted projection
Re: Hammer interrupted projection
This is not an introduction.
Re: Hammer interrupted projection
Also, the Goode and Boggs interruptions somehow work with American Polyconic and the winkel tripel.
Re: Hammer interrupted projection
For purposes of interruption, Geocart does not filter projections by categorization. It just tries to interrupt them. If they work, they work. You will find many other projections that can be interrupted that are not pseudocylindric, such as van der Grinten I or Aitoff.Piotr wrote:Also, the Goode and Boggs interruptions somehow work with American Polyconic and the winkel tripel.
A meaningful, equatorially sliced interruption results when:
- The equator is straight and horizontal in equatorial aspect;
- The projection has equally spaced meridians in equatorial aspect;
- The meridians bend toward the poles in equatorial aspect;
- The projection is not already otherwise interrupted except for at the outer meridian and the poles.

Re: Hammer interrupted projection
When I set Mercator to unconstrained, it shows the world in a finite space. Why is that?

As far as I can tell from Geocart’s information palette, it’s smart enough to simply stop rendering before it reaches 90° N/S, at about 89°59´59.794˝ N/S.
Re: Hammer interrupted projection
Quite so. I couldn’t figure out how to draw an infinite expanse.
