Hello there.
I am sorry I don't even know the correct name for what I am looking for: a 'hight-lines' database.
I want to make a world-map, making different hights visible around the planet. I was wondering if that database exists, and if so what is the proper name. In Dutch it quite literarily 'hoogtelijn', which would mean: hightline. But probably there is better jargon.
Thanks for helping.

Re: Hight - lines
They are called contour lines, isolines, or isopleths, in this case "of elevation".
In Geocart you’ll need a shapefile (.shp) containing those lines. Unfortunately, I can’t find a file like this on the web. And I have to admit that I’ve never seen a world map using contour lines of elevation, usually they are to my kownledge used primary for local maps. But of course it’s possible that somewhere on the web such a shapefile exists…

Digital Chart of the World is a massive data set that includes contour lines worldwide. Geocart includes DCW in the Professional edition. DCW is available from sources on the Web, although I haven’t looked specifically for Shapefiles. I did those conversions myself in the form that ships with Geocart.
